3 reasons to take vocational guidance before graduation

Choosing a degree course is a time that brings a lot of distress to students. After all, the options are diverse and they probably have not yet had a very extensive contact with the job market.

The choices are based on the prestige of certain professions, preference for certain subjects, expectations of the parents or the advice of teachers. But before experiencing them, the result is always uncertain.

Vocational tests are therefore essential. They aggregate the knowledge regarding the performance of the professionals of each course with the personality of the student. They are important tools, because they do not focus only on the grade of a course or the likes of the college students.

They gather information on the characteristics required in each profession and give a very accurate forecast as to how you would feel working in each of them. After all, as much as you enjoy math, for example, you would hardly love Accounting if you are not an organized person.

Check out these and other reasons for vocational guidance before graduation:

1. Vocational guidance helps decrease the risk of dropping out

The Census of Higher Education / 2011 revealed that of the 1,243,670 study tickets, only 522,928 graduated from higher education. That is, many more people enroll and less than half of them.

We risk saying that much of the dropouts occur because of a dissatisfaction with the course. Most of the time, the students enter the courses without researching much and are disappointed.

In engineering courses, for example, the dropout rate reaches 30% in some universities, and when questioned, they complain that the course is very theoretical and that it would take two years before they left the basic grid, which is focused on mathematics and physical.

2. Prevents suffering after-desistance

We constantly receive people who need help in accepting the graduation process. Upon entering the course, they believed that giving up would be easy if they did not feel satisfied. However, they end up, in the future, realizing that it is a complex and quite suffering process.

Why does this occur? In a degree, you invest time and money, make new colleagues, and change your routine. Your whole life fits that one, so do not think it will be simple to leave everything behind suddenly.

So it is better to prevent and make the right choice by taking a vocational test!

3. Helps identify personal skills that fit certain careers

Each profession requires a set of skills essential to the full exercise of the profession. For example, for a psychologist, it is essential to have empathy, to know how to communicate clearly, and the desire to read complex theoretical texts.

Without this, the psychology student will not adapt and, even if he does, he will probably not act in the area. With vocational tests, you will find the intersection between the skills you have and those required for a given career.

Therefore, taking a vocational test for graduation is a long-term, high-return investment, as it will prevent you from spending time, money and mind on something that will not bring you satisfaction.

But, attention! These tests have to be applied by well trained professionals. Internet testing may even help, but the correct interpretation must come from a psychologist who has listened to their expectations, understands their context holistically, and can offer a safer vocational guidance.
